The “EMPTY THE STREETS” Project will strive to touch lives and get people off the streets in a permanent way by providing a one-year program that will move them from a position of hopelessness and despair to one where they are optimistic and confident of their future as well as provide them with the ways, means and enablement to lead a productive and contributory lifestyle.
Specifically, the EMPTY THE STREETS PROJECT will include the following 4-STEP activities to move people from the street to self actualization and productive living:
STEP #1: EMPTY THE STREETS INSPIRATIONAL TOURS–
(Multiple One-day seminars all over the country) –
This aspect of the 4-step program will engage nationally successful people with street credibility and who have made success of themselves inspite of their difficult backgrounds. The team of speakers will be carefully selected from different parts of the country to speak at national seminars in the different geo-political zones across the country. The aim is for the audience to understand the possibilities for struggling people like them regardless of their present circumstances.
The EMPTY THE STREETS speaking tours will take place on an on-going basis through different states of the country. Apart from inspiring the target population, the speakers will also educate the people on the EMPTY THE STREETS reorientation and rehabilitation program and canvass for people interested in being part of the program to sign up for the next level, the EMPTY THE STREETS Bootcamp.
STEP #2: EMPTY THE STREETS BOOTCAMP – (6-weeks)
The EMPTY THE STREETS Bootcamp will be an extended rehabilitation re-orientation camp for the unemployed, homeless, the prostitutes, the petty criminals and the at-risk youths aimed at redirecting their minds and bodies to be more receptive towards a more productive and accountable life.
This 6-Week Boot-camp is critically necessary to the overall rehabilitation and reorientation program for the target population because studies have shown that many homeless, unemployed, at-risk youths, prostitutes and criminals cannot function productively in organized society until they have dealt with such issues dealing with their self worth, discipline, accountability, and personal and social responsibility. This camp will be a combination of mental and physical training.
People completing this Bootcamp will then transition into the vocational skills academy to learn a trade of their choice
STEP #3 - EMPTY THE STREETS VOCATIONAL SKILLS ACADEMY –
(6-Month program to learn a skill, vocation or trade)
This is the heart of the 4-step EMPTY THE STREETS Empowerment Program. Participants from the Bootcamp who have chosen to pursue a vocational trade will be admitted into the Vocational Skills Academy to learn the rudiments of the skills/trade over a 6-month period.
To ensure professionalism, continuity and depth of the Academy, The EMPTY THE STREETS Vocational Skills Academy will be run in partnership with credible and established training or vocational schools all over the country who have demonstrated a proven track record of quality and acceptable training. Participants will be assigned to one of our training partners most convenient with their area of residence or intended operations.
STEP #4 - EMPTY THE STREETS ENTREPRENEURIAL INITIATIVE
The cycle of reorientation and rehabilitation for a previously at-risk youths, unemployed, homeless, prostitutes and criminals cannot be complete without helping them to be become engaged in productive economic activity to fend for themselves. The Entrepreneur Initiative step of the EMPTY THE STREETS Program will help the people who have successfully complete the first 3 steps of the program to complete the cycle by setting up in vocational business or skill they have learnt at the academy. Business Experts will be engaged to help them work on business plans and other activities preparatory to starting their own vocational business. Funding will also be provided to help them make their new dreams a reality. A formal ceremony will also be organized for them to mark the beginning of a new life of self accountability and productivity
STEP #5 - EMPTY THE STREETS MENTORING PROGRAM –
The aim of the Mentoring Program is avoid high incidence of recidivism and prevent the graduates of the program from returning to their old habits As part of the program to ensure that each graduate of the EMPTY THE STREETS program continue to receive need support, encouragement, monitoring and mentoring, graduates of the Skills Academy will be assigned to a successful mentor from among the successful leaders in the country. The mentors will provide ongoing encouragement, guidance and direction for them as they work their ways back into organized productive society.
To facilitate this final step in our program, we will develop a volunteer force of successful people to volunteer to mentor each of the people who pass through our program. Our staff will then receive feedback and report from the mentors on a quarterly basis for one year after the graduates have completed the first 4 steps.
